Tipping Point series

Within this series of works, through the addition of varying degrees of flux and heat to a porcelain clay body, I attempts to conjure tipping points, capturing the moment of overflow. Points of transition and the in-between space are enduring themes within my work, specifically the imperceptible, uncertain nature of these moments and their relationship to our human experience. 

A tipping point is a threshold moment of sudden change from one state to another. A still life, a moment on the brink of time. These works explore the dynamic tension, between pure formal structure and transitory moments of flux, between restraint and fluidity, between containment and overflow. The objects are intended as metaphors, inviting us to explore these states within ourselves.
