In Reverence, Ruthin Crafts Centre
22 April 2023 – 2 July 2023

In 2019 I received a Production Grant from the Arts Council of Wales to support me in developing a new body work, culminating in the exhibition In Reverence. In Reverence opened at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in 2021, toured to the Ceramic Gallery at the Aberystwyth Art Centre and the Love Gallery at Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw in 2022 and most recently has shown at Ruthin Craft Centre in April 2023.

The space at Ruthin Crafts Centre was low lit, akin to museum lighting, and this transformed the work again, increasing the quality of intimacy. In her article for Ceramics Art and Perception, Dr. Frances Woodley described the body of work as “strictly speaking, neither still life nor installation, but hover[ing] somewhere in between, in what Bachelard terms, a ‘cell of intimacy’.” It has been tremendously rewarding for me to see the work within these four very different spaces. Each space has offered a fresh perspective.

In Reverence showed alongside Jeanette Orrell’s solo exhibition Drawings on Indigo. A beautiful exhibition about grief and the ancient Japanese art of indigo dying.
