Art of the Table, showing with Cardiff MADE

14th May – 11th June 2022

I am delighted to be showing work alongside some really talented artists as part of Cardiff MADE’s Art of the Table.

EXHIBITING ARTISTS: Max Cahn, Rhiannon Davies, Arthur Goodfellow, Tess Gray, Philip Hughes, Josh Leeson, Zoë Preece, Eleanor Whiteman, Yusun Won

Cardiff MADE is delighted to present a unique exhibition which re-considers still-life painting, ceramics and furniture within the contemporary, imaginary landscape of the theatrical tableaux; a platform for ideas laid out bringing the functional, lavish and wondrous together to explore and confound expectations of place, taste, and story. Where an object’s use and concept coincide and the table itself can be considered above the level of service, to a dialogue within Art.

Ideas such as the balance/ imbalance of an object wedded to the table surface which enables it to be level, the line of still life objects like characters appearing in a play, serves up the relationship between things, and us – revealing the fragile line between the practical, and slipperiness of memory, the echo of time locked within the material endurance of things, and asks us at a deeper level to question what is real, to look beyond the surface narratives underpinning the everyday.

‘Art of the Table’ is part of our annual programme supported by the Arts Council of Wales.

EXHIBITION RUNS 14/5/22 – 11/6/22
